< x o x > is the website representing David Sinden, an award winning photographer and artist based in Wales. David works on solo projects and in partnership with his artistic co-conspirator Kate Woodward. David had a brain haemorrhage in 2001 and in response to this life changing experience he started a long term project documenting survivors of brain injury. After? is an ongoing series of portraits which reflect the experiences beyond initial trauma. In 2024 After? received a national Headway Award and is now on permanent display at the Headway centre in Llandough Hospital, Cardiff. David and his co-conspirator Kate Woodward created and run the PhotoRenga photo poetry project. This is a series of photo workshops based on an ancient Japanese poetry form linking artists across Wales, the UK and beyond to create new collaborative artworks. Our most recent workship is the 2025 Turner House PhotoRenga. Altered Ego, which explores the construction of identity through the worlds of espionage and deception, will reappear in future years… The Altered Ego exhibition took over Insole Court in Llandaff and was featured in the Diffusion 2019 International Photography Festival. David has previously worked for several leading digital arts agencies in London and Brighton, including Artec, Lux and Lighthouse Media Centre. He was co-founder in 1991 and Director of Zone Gallery, the leading photography and media gallery in Newcastle upon Tyne, until 1998. David can be contacted on dvs@xox.org.uk or 44 77 8657 2798. |
